To Verona Or Bust!

Several hours of travel along many roads and autostradas seeking Verona and the apartment for which we still had no address. Google maps had not provided us with information that was reflected in the road signage; so, as may happen, we were lost for a short time. Luckily, we found an alternative route without increasing our travel time by too much. As we made our way to Verona we were travelling in good faith, hopeful that we would receive some information such as the address to the apartment and the provision of promised parking. Text messaging whilst navigating is not recommended when tripping along unknown roads. Why? One tends to miss vital road markers that are critical; especially when maps are insufficiently detailed to make confident turns and changes in direction. Finally, a text message advised us that our apartment number was 5 but it also asked us on what day we were due to arrive and how many people were expected. Given that the apartment had been booked since last year and the date and parking requirements had been advised we were being asked questions that should have been noted by those administering the rental agreement. An hour and a half from our destination I patiently keyed in the responses to the questions posed. One most significant point was the fact that 3 weeks prior to us leaving OZ we had sent a flurry of emails to confirm the apartment's number and to seek clarification of parking access. A promised email due to be sent that same night did not arrive. Nor was there any response to any of the other emails sent in san Terenzo and all those that we sent each day from La Tavola Marche. To gain internet access at La Tavola Marche we had to take the sometimes dusty roads before finding the Kikki Riki internet cafe at Urbania. The 30 kilometre trip to town every day for a week was frustrating beyond belief. It ended with a complaint to the hosting website before the lesee made any contact with us. So many hours spent that week sitting in an internet cafe either seeking contact or alternative accommodation should the prepaid apartment not eventuate. The Kikki Riki internet cafe was luckily a modern and professionally run enterprise and I congratulate them on their services. Bravo!!!!! A point of trivia-many places and shops all over Italia have slot machines in a corner of their stall. The Kikki Riki was one such negozio.
