La Tavola Marche Ca Camone

Left San Terenzo on Saturday and headed down the autostrade for La Tavola Marche and villa Ca Camone. We travelled over many kilometres of fascinating countryside roads and through many small towns, arriving just after 2:00; having encountered toll booths, too numerous to count. Ashley's warm welcome was greatly appreciated after the stressful journey. Google maps proved to be exceptionally unreliable. Our apartment at villa Ca Camone was generous with a very spacious, master bedroom, an ensuite bathroom, kitchen/dining area and the surprise addition of a second bedroom and bathroom. Dinner, had been booked prior to our arrival and neither Stephen or I were prepared for its sumptious offerings. Five courses of delicious seasonal foods, sourced in the main, from the villa's garden. Jason, a superb chef, was ably supported by Ashley's gregarious personality. The variety of antipasto dishes excelled expectations. The pumpkin and onion salad, so different to that which we serve in Australia. The tomato tasting revealed before unknown comparisons as each when sampled side by side was so distinct in flavour, colour and appearance. Meats cured by Jason, a spaghetti course, fillets of veal with fresh parsley. Dessert, yes, I did eat it. Simply delicious. The vino Rosso, from Multipulciano, was one that we had had both at home and when in Italy previously. It's a small world people. Three other guests shared our first evening's dinner and each has the fondest memories of the menu and the casual and relaxed conversation. Even the killer onion event was managed with poise and good grace.
