Friday night, September 14th was an evening to remember. Luigi hosted the inaugural Sardinian dinner. The occasion was designed to raise funds for the Cancer Council's 2013 Cessnock Relay For Life. Mini buses delivered guests to the door where Luigi and his staff had prepared a traditional feast. Demijohns of wine flowed as guests chatted in the area in and around the bar. Mountains of antipasto featuring vast selections of meats, cheeses, breads and pickled vegetables announced that dinner was soon to be served. I noted that some of the invited guests had spirited a guitar onto our bus. A promise of things to come. Tables were welcomed to hand pick their favourite delicacies from the stand of antipasto. Luigi enlightened us re the choices and source of each of the antipasto items as we ate. Between antipasto and mains out came the guitar firmly in the hands of Helen who then was generous enough to entertain us with music and song. Luigi shared the limelight as did Pete as he accompanied Helen. The choruses prompted others to join them at the music stand. Suckling pig along with potato wedges followed and later typical Sardinian treats. Luigi's substantial kindness raised $600 for the Cancer Council that night. Thank must go to those who attended and particularly those who made it possible. Is this the start of some inaugural events at Luigi's? Time will tell.
