Relay For Life
Inspiration. Today marks the 11th Maitland - Relay For Life Fundraiser. The relay requires teams of committed people, young and old, to make endless laps around an oval to raise money for Cancer research. This afternoon survivors, carers, family members and friends dressed in team colours. Teams that proudly walked their first of many laps. Overnight, these same teams will continue their quest; to conquer sleep, cold and gusting winds to prove their dedication to the cause. May the blisters be small and the enthusiasm enduring for the long, cold night ahead. Pillows, sleeping bags and cooler bags were being toted and loaded into the tent city that ringed the oval. The stage was set for the army of volunteers to walk towards their goals. Each with a determination to make a difference. One team has already raised over $12 452.55. An amazing effort! Congratulations! Everyone deserves a medal!
