With Picasso the library cow put to bed it was time for me to hit the road to a little gallery in Bull Street, Cook's Hill. What a coincidence. Artistic zeal from the workplace cows to the art space bulls. The show was entitled 'Firing The Imagination' and it featured the work of seven ceramicists. Driving up we noticed that the gathering was so large that they had spilled onto the pavement with their wine and nibbles. The official opening was made by Claire Williams-Faculty Director Creative Industries, Hunter TAFE. It was obvious that she understood the pieces exhibited and spoke admirably of each artist. My best friend Anne had entered a number of pieces but it is fair to say that Stephen saw her mugs and immediately declared, 'If you want to get me something for my Birthday please get me those mugs.' The set of four coffee mugs had a quirky nature a little in keeping with his. Money in hand I purchased a red spot to be proudly displayed alongside that set of mugs. Stephen was already discussing how dinner guests might respond when presented their coffee in such mugs. No I will not show the mugs for that would spoil the surprise for our next dinner guests.

Cow of a Day at Work
When is a cow of a day at work good news? The answer; when someone brings Picasso Cow for a visit. A little bit curious? Last week when I arrived at work I found that someone had hand delivered a large cow. Not an ordinary cow, not one that moos but a rainbow coloured, life size cow right into the library. There it stood by the SmartBoard as if reading. It is the kind of cow that brings a smile to the face. Standing before it I tried to imagine the good Samaritans who had gone to the trouble of relocating it first from the stage in the hall to a classroom on the hill and thence, to the library. Did they man handle it, did they use a trailer? For a cow that can't move under its own steam or legs for that matter it was rather perplexing. Picasso sure gets around. I'd love to field the paperwork if either of the removalists was injured. You can only wonder what the insurance assessor would think. Picasso's reading material has been reviewed almost daily and when I left it on Friday afternoon it was examining a flow chart on dairies and milk production. Needless to say it has been a hit with the students. If like, the cow says, 'Three serves a day;' what great readers we'd see at my school. For those desiring to know the title of the first text it was Clancy The Courageous Cow.' Even cows have heroes.
