Passing the steepest pasture land as we travelled along the ever so windy road the little VW discovered St Angelo just on lunch time. Resisting
the urge to dine immediately we parked and walked most passageways and narrow streets enjoying the ancient architecture at every turn. People had cared to reconstruct or to recreate to contin
ue the old walled city demeanour. Up one such biway we noticed a trattoria 'Taddeo and Frederico' the calm of the courtyard dining beckoned us to enter its gates. A gentleman dressed in crisp waiter's attire, complete with tie greeted us in both Italian and English. Table for two, not a problem. I should me
ntion that St Angelo, along with most other towns in the region were celebrating truffle season. Beneath a considerable layer of shaved black, truffles was a salad of shredded spinach for me while Stephen savoured a souffle topped with white, truffles. Wafer thin fillets of veal and dolce too. A well balance blend of traditional cuisine with a contemporary ambience. I highly recommend this dining experience.
