Engagement Party Happening

Saturday night at Lillino's twenty six family members and friends joined us to celebrate the Engagement of Kirstie and Michael. A mini bus carried a dozen of us to the tratoria so that we could celebrate in style. As we turned into the drive the restaurant was glowing with light. The lights beckoned us to the warmth within. Inside we were met by a few guests sipping bubbles or enjoying a refreshing ale. Frederico and Luigi had prepared platters of canapés and arancini balls that provided insight in the feast to follow. The delicate canapés and their subtle flavours savoured by everyone. As soon as we were seated antipasto plates were delivered to the tables. Candles flickered gently as guests shared the plated olives, pancetta, salami, prosciutto along with stuffed bell peppers. The fire-hot peppers invited urgent sips of cooling wines or bubbles. I like surprises and the peppers did inject a volcanic moment into my dining event. Next, came the home-made pastas and so too Luigi's wines. Photo opportunities presented themselves throughout the night and many guests kindly smiled or acknowledged the camera's lens for collected memories. After mains came a treat for those who didn't know Luigi's secret talent. Luigi sang a well known aria and he was joined by Sonya thus thrilling an enthusiastic audience.

Mothers' Day High Tea

This morning Katherine and Stephen took me to Worn Out Wares at Singleton. We arrived to find the cafe brimming with people who, like us, were celebrating Mothers' Day. Katherine had booked a 10:30 High Tea for the three of us, in the courtyard. A step back in time where people sat and shared delicate sandwiches, cakes, pastries and tea. Tea was poured from a silver service and so too the milk. Special touches included the fine China cups and designer serviettes to complete the occasion. Cakes stands were presented by smiling wait staff. Salmon blini topped with wisps of garnish teased the palate and so too the cucumber and chicken sandwich fingers to begin. Thence, came the cupcakes, miniature lemon meringue tarts and gently dusted grapes. The arrival of the third platter surprised us all for we were already happily satiated with the first two. However, we managed to gather the strength to tackle the macaroons, carrot cake and blueberries. Such a pleasant place to dine, surrounded by an amazing variety of collectibles, flowers, works of art, linen and garden ornaments I am sure that we''ll return very soon to savour more of the trinkets and cafe's offerings.
